Our group list of what you need to do each morning is as follows:
Wake up; then shower; have breakfast including coffee; tidy your kitchen including wiping down your table, surfaces used and the sink; take your meds; brush your teeth; wash your face; put your make up on; comb your hair; get dressed for the day; put your hair products away; check your to do list/calendar; take the material you need for the day including your purse and tote bag
Choose an outfit that looks and feels good set out the night before.
Check your labels are tucked in, zips done all the way up, etc
Put away any clothes left out
Our To-Do Checklist is as follows: Keys to your home and car; wallet; cell phone; hand bag, brief case, tote bag or backpack; coat, jacket or cardigan; take pertinent material for classes or work; money or tokens for tickets or toll.
Labels and zips, yes yes yes!! I can’t tell you how often I slip my children’s tags back into place. Great list, thanks to the group!
I have tried to load as much organising into the evenings as possible, keeping the morning starts to the absolute minimum I can. This is mainly because of my early morning (05:30), but also I think I focus better on a small number of things very first thing whilst I am still technically waking up. Like Belinda the knack is concentrating on the morning routine and not moving on to something else before you finish….
I’ve been working on a new morning routine as I’m in a new phase of life – I started with knowing my overall goals, and what needs to be done in the morning to meet those goals. I have four parts: Health, Family, House, Me. Health is my starting the day/reflection/reading, and exercise. Family is being in the kitchen preparing food but being available till my kids get going on their day. House is housework. Me is shower, bedroom, ensuite. At the end of this I’m ready for the rest of my day! The big habit I have to break (or replace) in order for my mornings to be effective is getting on the computer before this routine is done – my social media and work needs to happen after my morning routine.
I have made a re-occuring task for each job I need to do each morning for this routine. I have still to time myself and I have probably over thought this but hear’s to a more stress free start to the day in the mornings! Again I suspect the crucial stage is still to come – making it a habit!
