Welcome to the second of our 52 Organizing Missions.
If you completed last week’s Get Organized Mission (Fill a-Hu-u-uge- Trash-Bag) you’re probably feeling pretty fabulous right now.
If not – what are you waiting for!
This week we’re getting organized on a smaller scale.
We’re about to streamline the receptacle you take with you into the world each day – purse, tote, handbag, wallet, briefcase, capacious carpetbag, whatever.
Ready?
If you’re signed up and logged in then today’s task will appear below.

Done! Still love the boost this one gives me for moving on to the next mission!
Our group responses are as follows:Organize your purse, tote, man-bag, briefcase, satchel, book-bag, or whatever generally accompanies you when you’re out and about.
Clear out the clutter by emptying everything out of your bag and place items on a table to sortinto piles: Electronics; Feminine or masculine care products; Gift cards, coupons, and loyalty cards; Makeup; Medication; Wallet, money, and credit cards; Trash: after sort is completed throw trash away. Remove the items you seldom use.
De-clutter your wallet of old receipts, decrepit photos, loyalty cards for places you rarely visit, business cards, random papers, credit or store cards you don’t need, and any other random items.
After everything is sorted then neatly pack the items you use the most first. This includes things like your wallet, sunglasses, keys, hand sanitizer, and lip balm, etc. Purchase travel size items for your purse or bag. Here are some items that you can put into separate pouches or zip loc bags; Manicure sets; Medication; Feminine or masculine care products; Pens, pencils, post-its, and other stationary items
The following are suggested items to put in your purse or bag:
Wallet: ID, driver’s license or state ID, credit cards [only carry one for emergencies; so you don’t spend unnecessary money], medical device identification card, medical insurance card etc; Keys [only carry house & car keys); Cell phone; Small make-up purse (lipstick or lip balm, mascara, mirror, small bottle of fragrance); Small tissue pack; Small, light umbrella (I walk a lot so I always keep one in my bag); Sunglasses or spare set of prescription glasses; Hand cream; Mints; Pen and notebook; Pocket calendar; Aspirins or pain medication; Water bottle; Current class material; Small change purse; Eye glass case. Keep your receipts in an envelope or mini accordion style file holder.
Keep your purse or bag organized: Put things away into their designated places as soon as you are done using them. This includes putting loose change into a coin purse or your wallet.
De-clutter your purse or bag once a week or before monthly bills come due.

Get Organized Wizard Excellent tips, as usual. Thank you to the group. Zip loc bags are the best! :)Reply · Nov 22 2016
Done! Ready for the next mission!
Done! Wow this was really needed! All organized and got rid of old receipts, store cards I don’t use, and about a dozen pens, highlighters – these always seem multiply at the bottom of my purse.
So I bought myself a slightly bigger beautiful new handbag (not that I needed one probably). I have also taken out my beautiful card organiser which I have been meaning to for a while, but have only kept my most used cards and put the rest in the filing piles for sorting later. I have reconsidered what I keep in my bag and taken a few things out. I absolutely love this mission – it should be the first on every course – as there is truly something psychological about freeing yourself of a junky handbag that you carry around with you everywhere. Once cleared out and organised it is quite literally a weight off your shoulders and a constant reminder every time you go into it of the mission we are on to get organised!
Done 🙂 and I have installed an App on my phone to store my Loyalty Cards and it was Free (Stocard)
Done, threw out out old cards I don’t use anymore and reorganized the ones I do
Loving my organized, light :), handbag! Fortunately, I didn’t find any spiders in there ☺️
Added this mission but have not been active. Since recently being laid off of work my kids and I have accomplished tasks 1 and 2! What an awesome opportunity to have “fun” with my kids as we spend time doing something worthwhile. 🙂
Just starting this program today, and with my bag right beside me it was the perfect first mission to tackle. I’ve cleared out my purse and left just my wallet, phone, iPad, charging cord, lip balm, sunglasses and keys. Mission #2 complete!
Joining in from today, so started with this mission! 2015 is the year for me being all organised let me tell you! For me, I always feel your handbag is the best place to start as you carry it with you everywhere and look in it so many times a day – it serves as a psychological reminder everyday of why we are embarking on this programme!
Today the purse is organized. This activity seems to be a perfect for the first of the year.
