Drawers completed and list made for utensil replacements
Our group responses are: The following are basic items you should have in your kitchen utensil drawer for daily use: 1 set of measuring cups/spoons; 1 set of wooden spoons; rubber & metal spatulas; 1 set of knives; tongs; ice cream scoop; turner; draining spoon & skimmer; hand can opener.
Empty your utensil drawer on your counter or flat surface. Items that should not be in your kitchen drawer return to proper location.
Sort: good, bad & rusty. Rusty items should be thrown away unless they are an antique. Antique collectors would be interested in purchasing!
Keep the utensils you use all the time & place back in your drawer
On your shopping list write the item you need to replace. After the item is replaced: donate or toss
Place divider tray in drawer for organized flatware. Place forks, knives, spoons in appropriate slots.
My group responses are as follows: Our organizing process is Assess; Arrange; Assemble; Assign & Appraise.
Assess: Empty your utensil drawer and Select the utensils you use regularly
Arrange & Assemble: Put the utensils you’re keeping back into their drawer
Assign & Appraise: Donate your rarely-if-ever-used utensils & [Good condition] donate doubles
If any of your utensils need replacement, make a note on your shopping list
Done. Gave the extra measuring cups and spoons to my daughter to play with.
Done! Some garbage, some to the cabin, some for college kids. Live to see some space….also cleaned and put down liners.
Done – That felt good. I didn’t really get rid of much but it felt good to clean it and reorganize it. I use most of what is in there. I removed a few things and stored them in a basket in a different area. They are things I only use a couple of times of year and don’t really want to get rid of because they are good to have for the special holidays (turkey baster, pie servers, etc) so I put them in a basket in another area of my pantry so when next Thanksgiving comes up I’m ready.
