Welcome back to 30 Days To An Organized Home (also known as the 30-Day Organize-athon)!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to organize the things that need to leave your house.
Right, let’s get to it.

I have an area by the front door for incoming and outgoing. I use a folder with multiple pockets for each and one for the car that holds receipts and coupons. It is also an area to hold mail that needs to put in the mailbox for pickup. I added a pen and post it pad to the area
Our group responses are as follows:
Gather all the items that need to be taken out of your home
Library books return to the library
Things that need to be taken for repair: shoes if repair is under $10.00 – over $10.00 purchase new shoes.
Clothes or linens that need to be dry cleaned if you can’t afford dry cleaning do not purchase the item
Items for errands; etc. Run like errands in the same area; if you ride the bus allot 3 hours.
Keep a magnetic pad & paper on your refrigerator. To keep your shopping list, errands, etc.
Keep a pocket calendar in your purse or bag to write appointments, return of library books, etc..
If you are forgetful you can create a checklist of items you need to take with you each day: cell phone, home & car keys, bus card, laptop, etc.
I put up two command hooks in a better area for my kids back packs. I also cleaned out a mail sorter I had for just misc junk and now will be the area for library books, dvd’s and whatever else I need to be returned.
Our group decisions are as follows:
Organize Your Outgoing Space [Living Room/2nd Bedroom]
Gather together any items that need to be taken out of your home, such as:
• DVDs to return to the video store or library
• Library books to be returned
• Items you’ve borrowed from friends = return as soon as you’re finished with it
• Things that need to be taken somewhere for repair = computer you pd $350 the repair bill is estimated at $280 = I’d buy a new one and donate the old one to computer cooperative to repair and sell inexpensively to the underprivileged
• Clothes or linens that need to be dry cleaned = before purchasing items that need to be dry cleaned only make sure you can afford the bill before purchasing otherwise don’t purchase
• A gift for an upcoming party, wedding or housewarming = pass gift on to somebody that can use it
• An umbrella to leave in the car = small compact umbrella that fits in the glove compartment
• Items for errands; etc. Run like errands in the same area; if you ride the bus allot 3 hours
Consider what else you could do to make your outgoing space an organized zone:
1. Install hooks for keys? Or use lanyard
2. Keep a magnetic pad on your refrigerator to keep your shopping list; errand list, etc.
Amanda, that ounds great! Can you post a picture?
I would be lost without my outgoing space. I have a small letter rack with pen, tape, parcel pen, return to sender labels etc. for the processing of my post as it arrives each day (bins aren’t too far away either). Doesn’t help all the piles of paper in the office for filing though! I try to move things for this week down from my noticeboard in my office in the loft so I have vouchers, tickets etc. to hand for the week. Doesn’t stop me having to hunt things out though! I also store presents and cards that are ready for upcoming events, providing I have remembered them! Finally, there is space for my handbag and office bags so that hopefully each evening everything is there for the morning. It sounds like a perfect plan but can’t solve the issue of my boyfriend moving things away and me then forgetting them in the morning – like helpfully (un!) charging my phone etc.!
