It’s Day 9 of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon. Time for part two of our secret splurging weapon.
Read the steps first, then take 10 minutes to think about them and take action. Ready?
This is good advice. I don’t have a sweet tooth and must learn to say “no thanks” when people try to get me to have dessert! To be polite at work when someone has a birthday cake I’m going to ask for a TINY bit saying: “I’m going out to dinner tonight (even if I’m not) so just a small piece for me please…” My boyfriend often gets garlic bread when we have pizza and I’m going to politely refuse the bread from now on… Good stuff, thanks!
A couple of years ago, I stopped eating meat, dairy and gluten – now finding other things to carve from my diet is difficult, and as long as I maintian it, is a sure way to avoid a lot of high calorie treats. The two hardest that remain are nuts and chips – nuts are very versatile, but they are a trigger food for me. Once I figured out that corn chips were vegan, I let them back into my diet. Now I try to limit myself to when I’m eating Mexican/South american food.
Our group responses are:
Are you a chocolate lover? If yes, limit yourself to 3 piece per day.
When dining out order sweet potato fries.
A small piece of cake at birthdays or special occasion is OK.
Ice cream with hot fudge is OK on special occasions.
Eat a sandwich with no bun with lettuce leaf at top and bottom.
Purchase lean meat. Purchase wheat buns/bread.
Healthy pizza: wheat crust, tomatoes, ground beef, pineapple, etc. Order a veggie pizza with wheat crust.
Drinking a glass of red wine per day has been known to keep your arteries from clogging up.
Allow yourself an occasional treat: Potato chips, dessert, sundaes, chocolate candy, etc.
This is a life long process. I have a few special items worth splurge calories once in awhile. Trying to keep a balanced diet and not gaining is a daily challenge.
I’m drinking more water and I’ve cut my calories in half. I’ve gone from rarely exercising to almost daily. Yet I have lost any weight. This is why it’s hard to stick with these things.
My group responses are:
Can you say no to chocolate? If not, limit yourself to 3 pieces per day.
Burger King has apple fries. Dining out: order sweet potato fries.
A small slice of cake at birthdays or special occasions is ok.
Ice cream with sauce is ok on special occasions.
Eat a sandwich with no bun with lettuce leaf at top and bottom. Purchase lean meat. Purchase slider buns.
Healthy pizza: wheat crust, tomatoes, ground beef, pineapple, etc. Order a veggie pizza wheat crust.
Drinking a glass of red wine per day has been known to keep your arteries from clogging up. The darker the beer: the higher the calories.
Allow yourself an occasional treat: Potato chips, dessert, sundaes, chocolate candy, etc.
You’re right. I actually don’t like cake much. Or sweet things.
Interesting, Definitely trying that next time 🙂
A little late, but back in the game!
