It’s so great to have you along – I can’t wait to get started!
Please leave a comment to say hi, introduce yourself, and/or tell me your greatest closet problem. I want to make sure you get your closet problems solved!
Greetings Michele! I am Arlene Smith. Aside from my closet just not being to small I can’t complain. I do have some questions for you about “organizing” I have a cleaning business & recently added organizing services to my business. On Thursday I’ve got a phone confrence with a client for organizing services this will be my first paid organizing job. What are some key tips I should remember for my first organization job.
Just started on friday and have already gotten rid of 5 bags of clothes so far. I have 2 closets, 1 dresser, plus all my coats in the basement to go through. I am sure I can get rid of 5 more bags…we shall see.
Great start Tami! Woohoo!
2 more bags gone yesterday for a total of 7 bags so far. And, I haven’t even started on my dresser or second closet. Back at it today!
I need this sooo much! my boyfriend is moving back in soon (he went away to go back to school…) and I barely have room for my own stuff! And now I have to make room for him! Luckily he won’t take up nearly as much space as I do, but it’s still a good motivator to get organized… (um did I mention he’s supposed to be coming up this weekend, and I haven’t started this program yet. God help me!)
LOL Catherine! We actually get a lot done on Day #1 so you’ll have made a good start by the weekend. I look forward to seeing you in the daily comments!!
Btw.. I’m not very tech savvy, so don’t let me miss anything plz
Hey I’m Rae. Very new. Just subscribed for the works. Plz walk me thru it. I don’t wanna miss anything
Hi Rae. Welcome!! Are you a Premium Subscriber? Hi, I’m Lauri. I’m a little late getting started, but I’ll catch right up. I don’t have clothes in my closet, that don’t fit, and I think I have plenty of room in my closet, and I don’t have any emotional attachments to my clothes, so the purging, etc. won’t be a problem. Here is my issue! I’m just tired of thinking about clothes! I want a “uniform” of sorts. I’m a school teachers, so my clothes are fairly casual and most of all washable! I want to feel good about what I wear, but I want the process to be easy!
Hey there Lauri. We spend much of the program decluttering and organizing closet area by closet area, as closet clutter is a huge challenge for many people. We will tackle creating outfits toward the end. I hope you find some useful nuggets while you wait. 🙂 And meanwhile, you may find this helpful: http://www.getorganizedwizard.com/blog/2011/06/personal-style-clinic-7-dos-donts-for-upgrading-your-look/
Hi, I am so ready to do this program. My closet is is very cluttered, I can’t see everything I have there, things always get crushed, are stored on top of each other, things don’t fit, things keep falling onto my head or floor when I open the doors. So, let’s get this transformation started…
I like your spirit Vesna! You’re going to love Day 1!! See you in the comments. 🙂
What time (Australia ) shoul we receive the first email? 7.45 am and I’m keen to start.
Hi Catherine. You should’ve received your email in the wee small hours. If it isn’t in your spam folder could you please let HelpDesk@GetOrganizedWizard.com know? They’ll sort it out out for you. 🙂 Meanwhile you can get your task at any time from the Declutter Your Closet Menu at the top-right of this page (there’s a link there for Day 1). Have fun!
Really looking forward to your help Michele as you’ve done so often in your other programs.

It’s great to have you along Pat! And thank you for your kind words. 🙂
Hi I’m Cath and I have a wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear, and spend far too much time “tidying” my clothes and shoes and still not finding anything. And my weight moves around so I have 2 sizes of clothes too. And my clothes seem to spread out to other rooms in the house during the week…. and now I’ve lost my fave black sandals somehwere!
Not your fave black sandals!! Welcome Catherine – we’re gonna have some fun. 🙂
My name is Kala and I’m ready to clean the closet! I’m looking forward to your great ideas! I’ve read through of lot of your other advice and LOVE IT! Ready for Saturday!
Thanks for joining me Kala! And thank you! ♡♡
Our house was made in 1970 and has little closet space. Our clothes also serves as laundry room, house stotage, and shoe closet.
OOOOOOO MY You sure need this one…..lol
That sounds like a challenge Rachael! Let’s make the most out of the space you do have! 🙂
Hi Michele! I’m a premium subscriber, do I need to do anything to sign up for the closet makeover? My biggest closet problem is I have way too many clothes & shoes and nothing to wear! My closet is fairly organized other than I just need help putting outfit ideas together or purchasing good, key pieces. I have too many clothes and have a hard time getting rid of some of it.

My biggest frustration is that one closet is built into the slope of the roof in our very old home. I have a shelf built in on the slope at about 5′ 6″. The hanging bar is under it like a normal closet. I have a second tier that I hang off the bar which does give me double hanging for about 24″ with full length for the rest. The area behind on the lower part of the slope is all lost space. What can I do to take advantage of that space? I have a second closet that is very deep (deep enough for a 2nd bar of hanging). the closet is about 3′ wide and could be a walk in but being about 3’x3′ there is not enough room to run the 2 bars front to back and get in between. Help!
Hey there Candice! Without seeing the space it’s difficult to make suggestions. I wonder if you could put some basket drawers in the lost space? Or install some shelves and use it for stacking sweaters? Our focus will be on getting rid of clothes that are wasting space, organizing the clothes you keep, and working out what you need to add to create outfits that suit your lifestyle.
I also have a ton of clothes and can never find anything bc everything is either jammed in drawers or folded on a shelf – I am a very visual person so I need to see everything so everything ends up being OUT and then looks messy..
I’m the same – if I can’t see it, I never think of it. We’ll work on this too.
Hi, my name is Lizanne and I am an obsessive “wanting everything to be neat and organized, but haven’t a clue of how to get there, but more importantly how to STAY there. I’m great in the beginning but then it all explodes again In a couple of weeks….! I get so frustrated with myself and try again,,
Welcome Lizanne! I’ll teach you some tricks that will help you to KEEP your closet organized. 🙂

lol!!
OMG did not know this was getting posted on FB.. LMAO
Hi! My name is Julie, and I am a busy mother who home schools our two young boys, and my closet is bulging at the seams! I was I’ll last year and had to take steroids, which, in turn, caused me to gain 100 extra pounds! I am diligently dieting now, but I still have 60 pounds to lose. So, my closet is full of lovely clothes that I hope to fit into again when I reach my goal weight. However, in the interim, I have “fat clothes” that need space too. I am dropping own a clothing size approximately every three to five weeks, and I donate the outgrown sizes and replenish with new “smaller” fat clothes. Holding on to to my old sized, goal weight clothes and trying to manage the multiple sizes of clothes I am wearing until my goal is reached is becoming too time consuming, too space consuming, and it just creates a lot of mental clutter and frustration. I love to purge things, but I have a very hard time parting with the clothes that do fit me when I am at my goal weight. Since, my weight gain was illness related and medication related, I am expected to reach my healthy weight by spring. I just need to streamline my closet into a system that allows for transition, but I, also, want to let go of anything and everything that I really do not feel fabulous in and wear regularly. It is time to toss and donate. I need a plan that does not invoke my unrealistic perfectionist tendencies to procrastinate or make this a project that is too overwhelming.
Hi Julieanne. First, congratulations on losing those 40 pounds! That’s a great achievement. I think the process of clearing out your closet will help you feel lighter, and having only clothes that feel good will motivate you further toward your goal. BTW, I don’t know if you know my 52 Weight Loss Missions site, but you might find some useful tips there as well: http://52wlm.com/blog/ See you Saturday!
Hi, I’m Nikki, and I’m an alcoholic – oh wait, wrong group!
No, seriously, I moved in with my boyfriend a few months ago and I’m lucky enough to have a whole room as my wardrobe / clothes room – but I still can’t find anything / don’t like half of my wardrobe, and so I wear the same old stuff all the time. I did have a sort out when I moved house and took loads of stuff to the charity shop, but I know I’m not making the most of my clothes or my space at the moment.
Also, in a few months I want to be working from home, so I need to make some space in this particular room to also hold a small desk for me to use for my laptop. Now, much as sitting on a pile of clothes might be comfortable, it’s not exactly going to help me to be productive.
So this has appeared at just the right time for me, meaning that by Xmas I will be all organised and my Purple Room (as I call it – given that I painted the walls purple) will be a tranquil haven of ordered clothes etc and also an ordered and functional workspace.
I’ll take before and after photos to show the difference!
Thanks for creating this Michele, I can’t wait to get started!
What a fantastic incentive, Nikki! I can’t wait to see your photos!!
