Start from wherever you are
and with whatever you’ve got.
~ Jim Rohn
If there’s one thing more powerful than any other for achieving your goals, it’s this:
You must make a start.
Knowledge is useless unless you do something with it. Talent is wasted unless you let it move you to action. Desire is frustration unless you turn it into effort.
Whether you want to write a novel, learn to play the piano, declutter your home, organize your life, lose weight, start a business, become more productive, or achieve some other goal – you’ll never get anywhere until you first get somewhere.
Don’t let yourself be put off by the size of the goal, or your age, or what others say, or the difficulty of the journey.
As long as obstacles are your focus, you’ll stay stuck.
Instead, think about what you can do, what action you can take, to begin the journey.
Then let the momentum grow and fuel you to continue and persist.
Yes there’ll be challenges, but you’ll grow with your goal. As you do more, you’ll be able to do more.
If you want to make this the year you achieve your goals, then:
- Decide what you want.
- Start. From wherever you are. With whatever you’ve got.
Who’s joining me?
How will you start?

I’m excited and have a lot of good intentions/goals for 2013! I am currently utilizing many of the tools in the Premium subscription for this. I also have your two apps on my iPad that I will be utilizing as well. I am in the rough draft stages of my goal planning as we speak and hope to have all my plans firmed up within the next few days. Thank for all the great tools Michele!
Wow Tami – that sounds very cool! Happy goal-setting and planning!! I’m really glad you like my tools. 🙂
I know you’re a big fan of ours Tami, would you mind if we used your comment in our marketing?
I get so overwhelmed so I am going to take your advice and just start and take action. Looking it just stays the same but with a little effort I hope to keep taking baby steps 15 minutes at a time. Using my timer and staying on track! It is a work that is always in process with me! Beginning my journey! Thanks for all your helpful advice. Bought the two Facebook specials and hope to put those to use!
Baby steps is all you need, Leslie! Using a timer is a fantastic way to make the task feel manageable and to keep your inner perfectionist at bay (you can’t expect perfection in 15 minutes!). I’m really happy you’ve found my tips helpful! PS The Organize-in-5 Diary is built on baby steps so I think you’ll like it. 🙂
I’m ready. I’m going to go through a small basket of photos for my nieces and get them off to them. I’ve been wanting to do this for several years…now’s the time!
Thanks for posting, Ann! I’m getting organized too!!

Great points Michele. I would also add, don’t let not knowing how stop you. The “how” will unfold as you take steps forward. So many people don’t start because they think they have to know all of the “how” first. Reminds me of that great quote by Martin Luther King “-> Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
