30-Day Organize-athon | Congratulations And A Bonus Task

30 Day Organize-athon Congrtulations!

Wow – we’ve done it!

We’ve completed 30 days of power decluttering, organizing, and mindset-shifting! Woo-freakin-hoo!

I have one final, bonus 5-minute task I’d like to ask of you.

Bonus Task: Acknowledge Your Accomplishments

Step 1: Get a pen and notebook, or open a new document on your computer.

Step 2: Write for 5 minutes about the gains you’ve made in your home over the past month. Include:

  • The ways things look
  • The time you save when looking for things
  • Your feelings – perhaps clarity or freshness
  • The influence on the kids
  • The impression on your spouse
  • Anything you’ve learned about yourself
  • Any new habits you’re committing to.

Step 3: Make a note in your diary to re-read what you’ve written in a month’s time. It will remind you of your achievements and motivate you to maintain the benefits.

And you’re done!

Got an Extra 5 Minutes?

  1. Get your camera or phone and take some snaps of the areas you’re most pleased with.
  2. If you have a blog, consider uploading your photos and sharing your accomplishment.
  3. Share your photos and/or story with other Organize-athon participants on my Facebook page. I bet they’d love to read about your success and discoveries – I know I sure would!

Now how wonderful does that feel!

Organize-athon FAQs

I’ve put together a special 30-Day Organize-athon | Getting And Staying Organized Q & A post.

Thank You!

Thank you so much for participating in the 30-Day Organize-athon with me! It’s been a joy to read your comments and share your journey. Perhaps we’ll do it again next year!

I have started with day 1, on to day two. I didn’t remove the dvd’s from the living room all though I need. We have a lot and I am a little overwhelmed with removing all of them. That would leave an entire book shelve empty. Any idea’s? I do enjoy the feeling of the living room feeling more roomy in a way!

    Thanks
    Megan

Okay Michele I AM listening… this is an oft discussed topic in my home – usually @ my doberman – ‘Sienna are you listening, or are those ears of yours painted on’??

if you could see my dobe ‘listening’ with her ears twitching….LOL My dog has also benefitted from your 30 day challenge – because I’ve realised the daily benefit of five or ten minutes ‘exclusively’ with her.

I think the task was ‘something productive or enjoyable’ but not necessarily planned for itself. I chose to play with, or spend quality time with my dog. We are thriving..both re-learning focus. Training is essential with all dogs, and all owners!

Back to my original thought – yes Michele like Sienna I am listening. Ears twitched forward and listening intently with head held on one side.. why is that? You are training me, like I am training her.. As long as the student enjoys the study.. LOL psychology is most interesting is it not!

This stuff is raising the happiness level in our home.. 😉

I am considering ‘repeating’… not cos I’ve flunked – but more because I THRIVE on the small accountable task each day. Go figure hey??

Been continuing the daily five to fifteen min tasks, I am planning some hotspot longer tasks like barbeque cleaning. And I have nearly completed the third wall of my house repaint – yay!!

April has been most productive from a number of standpoints – my accountability is up, my motiivation is up, attention to detail has returned along with a general optomism that only achievement brings!

I am much more focussed on identifying and achieving my goals. Thankyou!

Thank you very much for all the inspirational tasks! Our house is really a whole lot neater and more organized. Thank you once again! 🙂

This has been fantastic 🙂 I rewarded myself with an afternoon doing nothing on the balcony Thanks!!

Thank you so much for doing this! I feel more organized and less cluttered now! I try to be anyway, but with so much other stuff going on, things were getting behind….. It was easy to do these projects and make me feel that I was accomplishing at least one thing each day!

    Day “31” done!!!!!

I am so thankful for this monthly challenge. It has gotten me motivated to keep on decluttering and cleaning. Now at days end when I sit in my recliner, I can enjoy the time and relax without feeling so guilty about how things look. My home isn’t spotless, but it looks so much better. New habit is to tackle a new task each day in areas that need improvement. Another new habit is to put things neatly where they belong.

I felt so happy when my friend came for a visit. She was surprised at my organized kitchen and my desk.

My learning experience is start cleaning/straightening early in the day and not put it off for later. Try to complete the task in one room before going to the next room.

Wish my budget would allow me to purchase your 30 minute planner.

    Thanks again Michelle!

Thanks for doing this. I can’t begin to claim the “my whole house is clean and all is well” results that some seem to have achieved, but I can say that 28 areas of the house at least were touched for 5 minutes, which is more than happened any other month this year. And so as I begin to repeat the 30 days I am pleased that some is better than none, and some more is better yet. Thanks again Michelle!

  9. Adrienne says:

The ways things look… everything has a place now. Not so cluttered…

The time you save when looking for things…. I usually know where things are even when it;s a mess, but now my husband knows where to look for items when needed.

Your feelings – perhaps clarity or freshness…. I feel much better because I have more time for the fun things in life

The influence on the kids…. My 7 yr old has seen all these things going on and when I ask to go clean his room, he’s not so hesitant.

The impression on your spouse… he was very impressed that I could let go of so much. For so long, I had all this stuff…not any more.

Anything you’ve learned about yourself.. I have learned that I don’t have to hold onto everything and anything. I have started taking pictures of sentimental items and added them to a photo album, while either trashing or giving away the items so not to clutter the house.

Any new habits you’re committing to…..If something new comes in the house, something goes out. And now I automatically put things away.

Thank you Michelle for your help in an area that I needed it most (aside from budget). I’m excited to see how long this will keep up and if we slack, we have photos to get us back on track. 🙂
