Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-declutter the cabinets in your bathroom.
As usual, inhale a sense of clarity, freedom and order, then let’s get to it!
Day 4: Declutter Your Bathroom Cabinets
Step 1: Grab a large garbage bag.
Step 2: Open up your bathroom cabinets and, quickly scanning from top left to bottom right, toss into the bag:
- Medicines past their expiration date*
- Medicines for conditions that no longer apply*
- Old, expired or yucky toiletries
- Old, expired or yucky make-up
- Old, expired or yucky bath/shower products
- Ancient or dirty hairbrushes and combs
- Old perfumes and lotions
- Empty or mildewed bottles
- Anything gross or unpleasant to use
- Anything that hasn’t been used in the past 12 months.
Step 3: Throw your bag straight into the trash. Euw!
And you’re done!
Got an Extra 5 Minutes?
- Refresh your first-aid supplies:
– Make a list of items you need for a first-aid kit – including bandages, medicines, antiseptics and other emergency supplies appropriate for your family’s needs
– Check your bathroom cabinet for missing items and add these to your shopping list. - Take everything out of your cabinets, wipe down the shelves, and return everything neatly.
- Rearrange your cabinets so that:
– Similar things are together (eg all oral care items are together), and
– Most commonly used items are most easily accessible.
Now don’t you just want to admire those cabinets?

That feels great! And, not hard to do. 🙂
Done!
I thought this would take forever, since I probably haven’t done this in 2 or 3 YEARS… But it turns out we really didn’t have much in there so it wasn’t bad at all. Done! =)
Thought this would be a matter of minutes; wrong! Old meds, old lotions, old creams—gone! I discovered we have enough new [still in the cellophane] toothbrushes to supply the army of a small country.Bundled up and deposited in the guest bathroom—no guest of ours will ever have to go to bed with furry teeth…..Everything is sparkling! I’m loving this. Still can’t understand why I will do it for you, but lollygag if left to myself!
I did this task only two weeks ago. Then I got see-through containers to put the same types of things together. I am also working through using up the last of shampoos and have got rid of make up from the dark ages.
I’ve completed today’s task and I love my bathroom cabinets now 🙂
It’s amazing how many expired medicines I had. Yipes!
Done–just did this a month ago but found some more!
This task is done – wasnt to bad, had completed this is the first of the year…… next?
This one really did only take me 5 mins. Have the urge to do something else now. Thanks for kicking me back into gear.
All done! Thankfully, part of it was done a month ago!
Wonderful!
Done, powder room cupboards, too!
Done. Also I did complete days 2 & 3 just couldn’t get to a computer to post my blog comment. This is really a great idea and appreciate the help. Tomorrow here I come.
This one was VERY easy for me. Done!
Done!
Done!
All done!
done – WAY more than 5 mins! I kept resetting the timer and ended with 35 mins! (it’s not a cabinet…it’s a closet!) I thought I had done this recently, but I guess I had just organized the junk in a creative way. NOW it’s much better and only the priority stuff is there… again, I reigned in DH and got him to his stuff.! YEAH!!! Thanks! I want to broadcast this program from the rooftops! It’s SO liberating!!
done! eww!
