Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-declutter the cabinets in your bathroom.
As usual, inhale a sense of clarity, freedom and order, then let’s get to it!
Day 4: Declutter Your Bathroom Cabinets
Step 1: Grab a large garbage bag.
Step 2: Open up your bathroom cabinets and, quickly scanning from top left to bottom right, toss into the bag:
- Medicines past their expiration date*
- Medicines for conditions that no longer apply*
- Old, expired or yucky toiletries
- Old, expired or yucky make-up
- Old, expired or yucky bath/shower products
- Ancient or dirty hairbrushes and combs
- Old perfumes and lotions
- Empty or mildewed bottles
- Anything gross or unpleasant to use
- Anything that hasn’t been used in the past 12 months.
Step 3: Throw your bag straight into the trash. Euw!
And you’re done!
Got an Extra 5 Minutes?
- Refresh your first-aid supplies:
– Make a list of items you need for a first-aid kit – including bandages, medicines, antiseptics and other emergency supplies appropriate for your family’s needs
– Check your bathroom cabinet for missing items and add these to your shopping list. - Take everything out of your cabinets, wipe down the shelves, and return everything neatly.
- Rearrange your cabinets so that:
– Similar things are together (eg all oral care items are together), and
– Most commonly used items are most easily accessible.
Now don’t you just want to admire those cabinets?

I had cleaned out the bathroom cabinets recently, so I was surprised to find more expired stuff today! I got it all done and organized.
Done! It amazes me how long we keep some stuff that is out of date.
Great post today! And, in reading the previous comments, I found an idea that I’m gonna go do right now. New toothbrushes! We (me & the Mr.) get new toothbrushes every time we go to the dentist, but they end up in a drawer. Out with the old, and in with the new!
Today’s mission actually saved me a bunch of money! I’ve been looking at a line of anti-aging face products, but have hesitated because I’d have to charge it. Today, I found the same type of products (different brand) that I’d purchased not that long ago, but they got pushed to the back of the cupboard and were forgotten! Not so old as to be expired…so now I have a clean cupboard, a clean face, and a ‘clean’ credit card! 🙂
Good reminder that we are out of antihistamines. Done!
garbage bag complete!
are these things common to us cluttery-folks, or have you been snoopoing in my house?
did it yesterday!
finito completo!
i will do this when i get home from work! it does need to be done in the master bathrroom! (i missed sat & sun due to company) so things are fairly decent (not organized) but decent :.)
Done..looks great for all the snoops! 🙂
OMG – organized the cabinet less than a yr ago. Thought – I’ll do it but it doesn’t need it. Grocery bag full of “stuff” later and I’m amazed! Will have talk w/dd that fem. prod. boxes get put in recycle when empty. Not left in cabinet. No wonder she was always saying she was out when I thought she had some! Oh the things you discover when you clean!
I definitely needed a large garbage bag for this one
done! wow, threw out a lot of stuff!
Done in all 4 bathrooms!
Done. Good one!
Got it done!
Completed…
Done. I am really enjoying getting these things done. Thanks for the help.
All done, I did organise my bathroom cabinet before but forgot the medicines… Nice to have the reminder 🙂
Didn’t quite get it done in five minutes, but I got it done! And boy did it need doing! Thank you for gettine me organised!
