Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-declutter the cabinets in your bathroom.
As usual, inhale a sense of clarity, freedom and order, then let’s get to it!
Day 4: Declutter Your Bathroom Cabinets
Step 1: Grab a large garbage bag.
Step 2: Open up your bathroom cabinets and, quickly scanning from top left to bottom right, toss into the bag:
- Medicines past their expiration date*
- Medicines for conditions that no longer apply*
- Old, expired or yucky toiletries
- Old, expired or yucky make-up
- Old, expired or yucky bath/shower products
- Ancient or dirty hairbrushes and combs
- Old perfumes and lotions
- Empty or mildewed bottles
- Anything gross or unpleasant to use
- Anything that hasn’t been used in the past 12 months.
Step 3: Throw your bag straight into the trash. Euw!
And you’re done!
Got an Extra 5 Minutes?
- Refresh your first-aid supplies:
– Make a list of items you need for a first-aid kit – including bandages, medicines, antiseptics and other emergency supplies appropriate for your family’s needs
– Check your bathroom cabinet for missing items and add these to your shopping list. - Take everything out of your cabinets, wipe down the shelves, and return everything neatly.
- Rearrange your cabinets so that:
– Similar things are together (eg all oral care items are together), and
– Most commonly used items are most easily accessible.
Now don’t you just want to admire those cabinets?

It looks so much better and feels good. I had 4 bags of trash and 1 box for charity (lots of stuff from couponing). We were able to get RID of a rolling drawer unit in there. It did take us (hubby helped) an hour though! So needed that. Thank you, ready for the next task!
done
Did it yesterday!
Done! I’d done my makeup a couple of weeks ago so I just concentrated on the medicine cabinet. Turns out there were quite a few expired items, most of them from last month, though, so that doesn’t seen so bad. 🙂
Took about 30 minutes in all but worth it. Some really old stuff in there!!
Thanks for pushing me to do this one! This was great. Very organized now! 🙂
I did this really late last night because I was DREADING it. My bathroom cabinets have become the catch alls. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, but it took more than 5 minutes. 🙂
Another one done!
Done. Thank you for the task.
I was done around 3 am after a day of sick kids! Late, but done!
Wow, found some very outdated, gunky stuff. All cleared out now and sparkling!
Done and dustied! Feels fantastic every time I walk into the bathroom. Thanks.
Loving this challenge!
Done yesterday, coudln’t leave a message though 🙁
I am amazed how many things are gone…
2 bathrooms – both done – I am so glad I did a big clean out not too long ago – is making it a bit easier today. Bring on Day 5
Done and done, I am out of the running since i keep forgetting to post but to me it really doesn’t matter getting things somewhat straight is reward in itself
I had 3 trash bags full of stuff, how embarrassing!
Done! Only got one cabinet, but yuck! I didn’t know there was so much dust on the top. Did leave hubby’s basket tho’ – not sure what he does or doesn’t use on a regular, sometimes, or rare basis.
