Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-declutter the cabinets in your bathroom.
As usual, inhale a sense of clarity, freedom and order, then let’s get to it!
Day 4: Declutter Your Bathroom Cabinets
Step 1: Grab a large garbage bag.
Step 2: Open up your bathroom cabinets and, quickly scanning from top left to bottom right, toss into the bag:
- Medicines past their expiration date*
- Medicines for conditions that no longer apply*
- Old, expired or yucky toiletries
- Old, expired or yucky make-up
- Old, expired or yucky bath/shower products
- Ancient or dirty hairbrushes and combs
- Old perfumes and lotions
- Empty or mildewed bottles
- Anything gross or unpleasant to use
- Anything that hasn’t been used in the past 12 months.
Step 3: Throw your bag straight into the trash. Euw!
And you’re done!
Got an Extra 5 Minutes?
- Refresh your first-aid supplies:
– Make a list of items you need for a first-aid kit – including bandages, medicines, antiseptics and other emergency supplies appropriate for your family’s needs
– Check your bathroom cabinet for missing items and add these to your shopping list. - Take everything out of your cabinets, wipe down the shelves, and return everything neatly.
- Rearrange your cabinets so that:
– Similar things are together (eg all oral care items are together), and
– Most commonly used items are most easily accessible.
Now don’t you just want to admire those cabinets?

Bathroom Cabinets – check!
Completed! Something that has been on my “to do” list for the past several months. While it’s not “perfect”, I have cleared out a great many of those things I have been having trouble letting loose ….mainly because so much of that JUNK was so expensive! Not in use…but hard to toss in the garbage! Thanks for this one….it made it easier to say “good-bye”! Lol!
Done.
Done 😉
Done – AND Yes…it looks much better!
Done!!!
Did it for both bathrooms! Ready for next challenge
Done! Took less than five, but makes me want to spend some serious time reorganizing that closet.
Done! Took less than 5 minutes. 🙂
done. thanks.
Done! I guess when the eye cream has solidified it’s time to toss it, yes?
Also did yesterday’s assignment (as promised late last night). Anybody need a spaghetti portion measurer? 😉
Done. Started in my husbands bathroom…he’s got less junk. Inspired me to do MY bathroom too!
I did it!! And yes you were right….EW!
Fortunately, I am a couponer and have to always keep my stockpile organized to know what I’m looking for in the sales so the bathroom cabinets are usually pretty set. Still didn’t hurt to give ’em a nice touch up though!
I was surprised at how many of my OTC medicines were expired. Hello, Walgreen’s!
I’m all done!
It’s late, I had to look this up. Somehow I didn’t get today’s email. But since I just did this last month, Easy!
Had lots of room under vanity when I finished. I can now put things on top of vanity underneath in baskets. Now the top of the vanity looks nice too, even room for a plant. : )
I actually did this a couple of weeks ago but did one more pass through! Love it when my stuff is easy to find:)
Another task done! I’m feeling VERY empowered. I got the girls’ bathroom done (it took WAY longer than 5 min.)! I got our main floor bathroom done. Still need to do our master bath and the guest bath. I hesitated to do so much extra as I want to keep motivated throughout this month. I think the primary motiviting factor is knowing I;m committed to only 5 min/day (my house needs LOTS more than that but at least this way I’m making progress!!
