Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-organize your surfaces.
Ready? Let’s start.
Day 25: Declutter Your Surfaces
Step 1: Decide which surfaces you want to tackle in today’s 5 minutes. Depending on the state of your surfaces, you could choose to declutter one or more of the following:
- Kitchen counters
- Dining table
- Coffee table and side tables
- Bookshelves/display cabinets
- Sofas and armchairs
- Home office desk and filing cabinet
- Bathroom vanities
- Beds
- Floors
- Entry hall table/consoles.
Step 2: Quickly clear your selected surface(s) by:
- Discarding anything you don’t use or love (a little ruthlessness will earn you lovely, uncluttered surfaces that look great and make you feel wonderful)
- Putting away things that have a home
- Finding a home for things that don’t (if you’re struggling to find a home for something, consider tossing it instead).
And you’re done!
Got an Extra 5 Minutes?
- Repeat step 2 for another surface – or several!
- Wipe down your freshly decluttered surface so it gleams.
Now doesn’t that look and feel fabulous!
The 30-Day Organize-athon Mantra
Move fast. Don’t overthink. Let it go!

This was the 10th thing I did. I don’t have too many surfaces that get clogged up, but our home office desks do, so I focused of clearing those. I felt this was needed before I tackle home office or paperwork anyway as I need some space to sort those things. Another job that didn’t create a further To Do List either. Also just realised this is a third of the journey already!
One-third done – woo hoo Amanda! These little steps add up to a big difference! 🙂
I did the front closet and the office floor 🙂
Desk and office area clean and neat!

I did this on Saturday – I had the girls coming around for a party so I cleared off my kitchen benches

Done!
All done! Small house so not too many surfaces to clutter up .. lol
Did this yesterday but couldn’t get on the net grrrr 🙂
Cleared my coffee table top and the hiding-hole box that swings out from it. Mags and sukoku books mosty.
Fell behind, but today I catch up! I chose my desk in my home office. Last night I heard someone talking about action vs distraction. All the stuff I let pile up on my desk because “I’m gonna get to it later” is distracting me from doing what I want to be doing. 5 minutes now will save hours later!
Thanks!
Alright! I needed this. Done!
