30-Day Organize-athon | Day 25: Declutter Your Surfaces

30-Day Organize-athon 25

Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!

In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-organize your surfaces.

Ready? Let’s start.

Day 25: Declutter Your Surfaces

Step 1: Decide which surfaces you want to tackle in today’s 5 minutes. Depending on the state of your surfaces, you could choose to declutter one or more of the following:

  • Kitchen counters
  • Dining table
  • Coffee table and side tables
  • Bookshelves/display cabinets
  • Sofas and armchairs
  • Home office desk and filing cabinet
  • Bathroom vanities
  • Beds
  • Floors
  • Entry hall table/consoles.

Step 2: Quickly clear your selected surface(s) by:

  • Discarding anything you don’t use or love (a little ruthlessness will earn you lovely, uncluttered surfaces that look great and make you feel wonderful)
  • Putting away things that have a home
  • Finding a home for things that don’t (if you’re struggling to find a home for something, consider tossing it instead).

And you’re done!

Got an Extra 5 Minutes?

  1. Repeat step 2 for another surface – or several!
  2. Wipe down your freshly decluttered surface so it gleams.

Now doesn’t that look and feel fabulous!

How ’bout the dresser in my bedroom? Done. And the chest of drawers and all yhree bookcases. Trader Bookstore, here I come. Thanks

This one’s tailor-made for me today! I have to operate on the printer so I had to clear off my desk. Later today I will clear off the dining room table which still has all the tax papers on them – they can go in the file box as soon as I manage to rescue the printer’s life and get it to talk.

I finished this some time ago and now I keep it up by putting things where they belong. I make time to do this after I have done the dishes and cleaned the kitchen. It take me about 30 min. to pick up and put things away.

Most surfaces are clutter-free, but need to be cleaned up or dusted. The kitchen counter, though, is always full of dirty dishes, since I don’t have a dishwasher. I should wash it more than once a day… and the desk is always a mess. Done for today, hope it stays, this time! Lol

Coincidentally done this morning. It’s one of the major perks of having a regular house cleaning done — regular decluttering!
