30-Day Organize-athon | Day 18: Organize Your Storage Containers

30-Day Organize-athon 18

Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!

In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-organize your storage containers.

Let’s get to it.

Day 18: Organize Your Tupperware and Storage Containers

Step 1: Empty out your stash of Tupperware and containers onto the floor

Step 2: Add any stray items that belong here but have migrated to other random household destinations.

Step 3: Quickly select the items that:

  • You use regularly; and
  • Have lids (if needed); and
  • Are in good condition.

Step 4: Store these neatly in the cupboard or drawer. Put smaller items into larger ones to save space, and put each little pile on top of its own collection of lids (that way your lids are always close to their respective containers ).

Step 5: Throw out everything else – anything gross, ancient, or surplus to your needs. You can put it aside for donation only if it’s really good.

And you’re done!

Got an Extra 5 Minutes?

Let’s simplify your kids’ lunchboxes and drink bottles.

  1. Discard anything they’ve outgrown.
  2. Discard anything that’s stained or smells funky.
  3. Discard anything that’s surplus to your needs – if you only need one set per child, let the rest go.
  4. Make a note to buy anything that you’re missing.

Now don’t buy more if you don’t need it!

The 30-Day Organize-athon Mantra

Move fast. Don’t overthink. Let it go!

  1. Suzanne says:

Do this regularly as the containers go into or out of the dishwasher. Guess I do better than I think I do 🙂 This whole project has really helped me identify the major problem areas and given me the incentive to takle them on an ongoing basis. Thank you!!

  2. Janelle says:

This area is almost always organized but it’s still a good idea to take a hard look at it again. I can almost always find SOMETHING else to get rid of! Task done!

  3. Kimberly Cole says:

My storage containers are butter bowls and cottage cheese containers lol. And they didn’t need any work at all really since they stack so nice and neat with the lids under them. Eventually, I’d like to get an actual set of real storage containers, but they do for now.

You might be a redneck if you have a set of matching salad bowls and they all say country crock on the front.

  4. Natalie Ann says:

Done 🙂 thankfully I don’t have too many tupperware / plastic storage containers so was an easy task.

  5. Linda Breve says:

Did this a few weeks ago but any time anyone but me empties the dishwasher the whole storage cabinet goes to …Will do this again as soon as I get home from work and finish exercising!

  6. Allison says:

Task completed! Tossed a few homeless bits and takeaway containers, wiped down and order restored in the tupperware area.

  7. STacy says:

ummm well i wish i had “extra” storage containers to have on the ready but alas the budget does not allow. as a matter of fact i need a few to work on certain areas… does it count that i did my little bit of tupperware instead?

  8. Annette T says:

Yeah. This one I did a couple of days ago, so done 🙂
Instead I’m gonna spend a little more time on the kids toys. Still lots to do there……
