30-Day Organize-athon 11

Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!

In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-organize your shoes.

We want clarity, freedom, and order. Now let’s create them!

Day 11: Organize Your Shoes

Step 1: Get a large bag. Quickly scanning your footwear, throw into the bag any shoes or boots that:

  • Are tatty, broken, or in poor condition
  • Are tragically out of style
  • Are ill-fitting or uncomfortable
  • Don’t go with your clothes, taste, or lifestyle.

Step 2: Do a second scan for anything that needs repair. If you know you’ll never get around to the repair, then pop these items straight into your bag. Otherwise, put them aside for later attention.

Step 3: Put your bag by the door or take it straight out to the car. (Really good stuff should go to charity, but let the rest go into the trash.)

Step 4: Do a quick tidy of your remaining shoes and boots.

And you’re done!

Got an Extra 5 Minutes?

  1. Look over the outfits in your closet. Would particular items of footwear help you get more out of your wardrobe? For example, for girls:
Do you have several evening outfits but no good evening shoes?
Could you get more looks from your jeans if had boots to tuck your jeans into?
Would platform heels allow you to dress up existing outfits?
Would ballet flats allow you to dress down existing outfits?
    For guys:
Would some black or brown lace-up shoes look better for work?
Sorry guys – I’m out. Sad smile
  2. Add the shoes you need to your clothes shopping list.

As if you needed an excuse to go shoe shopping!

This one was well overdue! Have to wear orthotics now so got rid of all but 5 pairs of shoes. Heaps of room in the bottom of the wardrobe now, and shoe store .. here I come!!! Yee haa!

  2. Jen K. says:

I had just recently cleaned out my shoe collection. However, I still found 4 more pairs of shoes to donate!! Woohoo!!

  3. Susan Saunders says:

Easy task this time. I had already gone through shoes a couple of weeks ago. I still did mange to thrown away two more pair — I’ll never wear them again, and they aren’t even nice enough to donate.

  4. Jennifer says:

Another easy one. I only wear comfy shoes, and I’m a SAHM. Since my feet grew during my first pregnancy, most of the extra shoes are long gone! Only 1 pair to donate!

  5. Debra Stanley says:

    Hi
All done and a easy one once again

We also brought a underbed shoe organiser that holds 12 pairs of shoes

Thinking about buying one for each room now so that everyone has their own
    They are so cool
Just need smaller versions as no way everyone is going to have 12 pairs of shoes apart from the 5 yr old that is with her slippers joggers sandals and dance and school shoes and sports shoes

    Thank you
    Luv Deb

  6. Lyn says:

Who knew there were so many pairs of shoes in my closet! And so many that really don’t fit or aren’t in style any more. Job done!

  7. Tiffany says:

So glad this one came today. Such an easy task as I only have 4 pairs of shoes! Finally one that takes the 5 minutes 🙂 Looking around my home is coming together slowly, but surely!

  8. Dawn says:

5 min done. Still have several more closets to go through. Then it’s on to shopping. I definately need some new shoes!

  9. Karen says:

Done! This one..not quite so hard. I don’t own an overabundance of shoes…I discovered my “love” for them rather late in life and haven’t had time to accumulate much. What I DO have..and love….are a plethora of slippers for my feet, an abundance of houseshoes. Now those…they were definitely getting out of control…especially with my perfectionistic nature wanting me to save the “good” ones for the day when my home and my life are as I have long envisioned. What I realized is that it is important NOW to treat myself with respect and a sense of dignity…and yes..pretty attire for the feet..even at bedtime..are a part of treating myself as a person of worth. So…out the door those ratty ones went. I am tempted to go and dig out just one ratty pair for “emergencies”…but I am restraining myself!

  10. Kim says:

I didn’t think I had any shoes to get rid of but after a talk with myself I got rid of more that I thought I would. There are 3 pair that probably should go, but I couldn’t do it this time around.
