Welcome to the 30-Day Organize-athon!
In today’s 5 minutes we’re going to express-organize your garage (yes, I’m serious!).
Remember: clarity, freedom, and order. Let’s begin.
Day 10: Organize Your Garage
Step 1: Get a large box or bag (you may need several). Quickly scan your garage and toss into your box/bag any:
- Junk
- Outgrown toys and clothes (if sorting through boxes for donate-able items is an obstacle to getting it done, then simply toss it all)
- Ancient seasonal items, holiday decorations, etc
- Rusty or broken tools
- Rusty or broken gardening implements
- Rusty or broken garden furniture
- Prehistoric gardening supplies
- Memorabilia (unless it’s genuinely meaningful to you – and if it’s been gathering dust out here for decades, then let’s be honest, it probably isn’t)
- Stuff from when you last moved that’s never been unpacked (if you haven’t opened it you don’t need it)
- Notes and books from school, college, etc
- Accoutrement for abandoned hobbies, sports and interests (if you take it up again, buy what you need afresh; it will cost you less overall when you take stress, clutter and mental clarity into account)
- Anything you haven’t used in the past 12 months.
Step 2: Pop your boxes/bags into the trash or take them the car for a trip to the tip.
And you’re done!
Got an Extra 5 Minutes?
- Consider whether you want to install shelving, hooks, etc, to better organize your garage space.
- Make a note to buy shelves, hooks, and supplies, and/or or to contact a handyman.
Now isn’t that a beautiful thing?
The 30-Day Organize-athon Mantra

DONE!! It looks GREAT out there!
Kids helped & I just finished by putting some things away & moving the ping pong table to the middle (folding 1/2 ways) so dh can park his car in the garage also when he gets home this week.
We’ve been having crazy weather here & when we have hail storms we have to much a bunch of “stuff” around so he can pull his car in.
Think he’ll be 😀 that we did this for him this week.
Easy – no garage!
However, we did straighten out the garden shed, and purged a lot from there.
Did this the other day before it was assigned! Finished!
No garage, no bike, so I can do other things 😉
We don’t have a garage, but just recently did the cellar. Guess that counts.
The hubby cleaned & organized our garage (which is not a nice spiffy one, just an old metal building) late last summer & can you believe it’s stayed that way?! All I did was sweep out the winter dirt, pick up what little trash there was & it was done!
We did this about a week ago, it feels so good to have a clean garage!
Done!
I took some bags of clothes I had stored in there to donate. Otherwise, this was a big task for us!
Did this a couple of months ago! All done!
I don’t have a garage, so I cleaned around my carport. Getting rid of an old rusty lounge chair. Have made a mental note to buy a new one.
Took a couple of days but got it done. Everything is ready for our garage sale at the end of the month.
Clean up week in our community so we put stuff we no longer want on the curb for pickup. Still need to go back and do a few more things but the big stuff is organized or gone.
No Garage!
Yeah me too!
No garage! 🙂
I’ve completed today’s task! Yeah!
Done =)
@Chris Is it the pantry? The tupperware cupboard? My daughter’s room? LOL
This was difficult! Done Done Done, whew!
This one I have to leave as my husband is a packrat and I have to be careful as he perceives this his area. He did comment last week how nice th house looks so I am hoping that if i just keep decluttering what i can control that he will see the benefits and attempt the garage.
