NOW AVAILABLE: 52 Organizing Missions.
I’ve invited readers to let public commitment help them get motivated and make progress on their organizing tasks.
In short, here’s what I’ve suggested…
52 Mini Organizing Missions
What I’ll do:
- Each week I’ll give you a mini organizing mission via the Get Organized Blog (right here!).
- It will only take about 30 minutes (that’s 30 minutes a week) to complete the basic mission.
There’ll sometimes be a larger option if you want to go further. - The missions will include decluttering, personal organization, goal-setting and personal development tasks across a range of home, work and life areas.
- The tasks will be broad enough for you to make them personally applicable, or I’ll give you a range of options – so you won’t be asked to do something irrelevant to you.
What I’d like you to do:
- Register your commitment to completing the missions with a comment on this Get Organized – Get Accountable! Post.
- Each week, check in on that week’s Assigned Mission post.
- Um – complete the mission!
- Enter a comment – eg DONE – on that week’s Assigned Mission post. I’d love you to share your experience too, if you like.
Just imagine how much organizing and decluttering you’ll have achieved by the end of your 52 organizing missions!

Ready to go. Hope I can get my husband to join in.
Okay…I’m in…I’ve been thinking I was organized but my home says otherwise. Could we really have lovely rooms & closets and see our way clear to our craft/art areas again? 😉
to getting rid of the 50 or more items. This I call a necessity. Thank you.
Last mission was accomplished by having a haircut like Jennifer Aniston’s old one, bought a nail polish and painted my nails. Borrowed a friends foot spa and bought a new lot of clothes including bathers from Target. (Even a new pair of jeans – I haven’t worn these in years. Just would like to buy an elliptical trainer now and get fit at the same time.
I’m in!!
Really looking forward to a huge step forward in my life 🙂
@Bambi: You don’t have to self-motivate for long to get real gains – just 30 minutes at a time. I know you can do it! M 🙂
Wow! I am a little nervous about the program (seeing as how I can’t seem to stick to anything) but hopefully optimistic. I desperately need all the help I can get so wish me luck!

Definitely accountable for this! So much energy released as those trash and donation bags leave the house!
Didn’t think I had 50 items to chuck out but I did and most of then where clothes and shoes etc that I haven’t worn for years. To the Op Shop they go and I feel a whole lot lighter!
@Mel: Welcome my fellow Australian (I can tell by your spelling!) If your home is where you’re feeling most out of alignment right now, you might like to start with the 52 Organizing Missions program or the Home Organization module of Design Your Life. If there’s anything I can do to help, give me a yell on the Design Your Life forum. Ciao for now, M 🙂
Just purchased the works….think it is exactly what I need! I just moved house, and when I packed everything was just thrown into boxes…..needless to say the boxes are sitting in the garage screaming to be dealt with…….hoping this will get me organised once and for all 🙂
