It’s time for Day 24 of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon. Only one week to go…
All tasks in the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon are adapted from my 52 Weight Loss Missions program.
Read the steps first, then take 10 minutes to think about and complete them. Ready?
Our group responses are as follows: The power of a journal is to slow your brain down to your pen & the 18-inch journey from head to heart is what you release with your pen to your paper/journal/online journal.
Write in your diary: things that are bothering you; solutions; look at the total picture to come up with a solution to the situation at the time. Also, keep track of the positive moments in your life. Memorable events: dates; birthdays; milestones; graduations; anniversaries; meaningful to you. New learning experiences: what did you learn from this or what did you not like = evaluating. Vacations! History of your life!
Keep your journal/diary locked or hidden.
What is a blog? A blog is a type of website that is updated regularly with new content. Most blogs contain short, informal articles called blog posts. These posts usually contain some combination of text, photos, videos, & other media. At its core, a blog is just a space on the Web that you can create to record & express your opinions, experiences, & interests. Or share family photos.
Here are some tips for making your notes: Write as little or as much as you want. Just a few minutes most days are fine.
You can make observations about what you eat, how much, how well you stick to your diet actions, your exercise, how well you stick to your exercise program, your emotions, your motivation, your positive events of the day, etc.
Focus on observing – notice when it’s easier for you to eat and/or exercise well, & when it’s harder. I’ll say it again because it’s so valuable to know: This information is priceless. You can’t find it in a book or buy it in a program. You can only discover it by observing yourself. A couple of inhales what is my body telling me & exhale & what is the environment telling me.
Use correct spelling or grammar is necessary & appreciated make it legible so you can read it – especially if you’re writing a public blog.
You don’t have to read it back – it’s just a way to anchor realizations.
When you learn something interesting, look for ways you can apply that information to your lifestyle – e.g.: Buying healthy food really motivates me to eat well. I’ll re-do my budget so I can buy healthy food regularly. When I go for a walk at lunchtime I have more energy & feel better than when I try to exercise in the morning. I’ll schedule more lunchtime exercise from now on. If I have a banana/fruit before I leave for my groups/volunteer, I’m not so ravenous at dinnertime. It’s definitely worth buying & keeping afternoon snacks handy.
Never give up. Always stay positive. I am proud of all of you for your dedication to a healthier you. Good Luck.
I have been logging on myfitnesspal.com. Today I returned to journaling also. I will spend more effort looking for patterns. Good ideas.
