Welcome to Day 9 of 14 Days to an Organized Closet.
Today’s task will take 15-30 minutes.
Yesterday we organized all our underwear.
Today we’ll turn our attention to those other dresser drawers, and deal with gym wear, swimwear, sports wear, socks, and hosiery.
Ready?
If you’re signed up and logged in then today’s task will appear below.

All my swimwear, sportswear, loungewear and nightwear sorted, with about a half a black bag of stuff gone. Did socks and hosiery with my underwear so that was all sorted then. Onwards and upwards!
I used drawer dividers for most of these things, much neater for me and I have kept fewer items.
Day 9 completed!!! Never thought of rolling up hoisery, love the idea.
My drawers were not exactly assigned. But now I have a drawer for sweats, one for bathing suits, one for sox and hoisery, one for bra and underware, one for pj’s and one for sexy clothes and I may combine those two- well see.
My group decisions are:
Due to limited closet and drawer space we would use plastic containers with the following categories [each category would be sorted by color]:
Sportswear – tops and bottoms, gym socks, headbands, and gym bag. Remember to take your gym shoes.
Swimwear — one piece bathing suits, 2 piece bathing suits, cap, towels, wash cloths, bar of soap, sunburn lotion, beach bag and clean change of clothes when you’re done swimming and showering. Remember to take your beach shoes.
I’ve pretty much sorted stuff this way as I’ve been going.. gym/sportswear and bathing suits are together. And I’m waiting till the weekend to do socks. Because that’s going to be a big task.
You must have a lot of socks Catherine!
I do…
I too, like Twila am behind, but I have several days over the Christmas holiday the I am going to use to get on top of this. I have read all but time won’t permit this week or next.
‘
Hi Candice. There’s no rush. Those days over Christmas sound perfect – you’ll probably enjoy the process more. 🙂
This one is going to be difficult because I have more gym wear than anything else…Any hints for someone like me.. Right now I hang all my gym clothes.
I have tons of gym stuff too, Twila. I suggest rolling up gym tops and bottoms and storing them in neat rows (or columns) in a drawer. Each rolled item takes up little space but you can see what you have. It’s a waste of hanging space that you could use for dressier clothes. 🙂 Let me know if that helps?
I will try but I am a gym or jean girl….dress up once every 3 months or so for weddings and funerals that type of occasions. We live very casual lives, dressy is a nicer top with my fancy jeans. One of my goals is to not wear so much tshirts type shirts and pick nicer “regular” tops with my jeans..LOL ! I am going out on a limb. 🙂
Done! I had very little in this department so it was easy for me to organize. When I look at my closet and dresser, it’s hard to believe that I live here – it’s so organized. However, maintaining that organization will be a major challenge for me. I hope you have some good ideas because I need all the help I can get. I don’t ever want to be a ‘closet pack-rat’ ever again. ~pk~
Now that you know how good it feels I doubt you’ll go back there again, Pat!! Plus we’ll learn some good maintenance strategies on Day #14.
Thank goodness we have maintenance strategies! I’m scared to touch anything!
LOL Catherine – I know what you mean!
Oh bliss of all areas being organised now! My wardrobe has never ever looked like this good! I am so incredibly happy with this outcome! And all of it in 9 days.
However, I must admit that a few weeks ago I did do some pre-work for myself when I organised all the spare bedding that is stored right on the top of the shelves. That saved me a lot of time now as I had purged and sorted all the bulk items and bought neat vacuum sealed bedding storage boxes.
The drawers did take longer than 30mins as all the odd bits and pieces I had avoided dealing with till now needed to be sorted out.
Got one X-large heavy duty rubbish bag full of things that really needed to go.
Michelle, what next? Can’t wait to find out tomorrow. The next 5 days must be really fun tasks as there is nothing else to organise any more ;-).
Doesn’t it feel amazing Vesna?!? We have one day for accessories, another for shoes, and then we’ll be working on outfits, a closet inventory, and maintenance strategies. All great fun, though! The hardest work is DONE. 🙂
I am way behind. Iam i going to be able to access this later
Don’t worry at all Twila – you have a whole year to access the program. And I’ll be following the comments so I’ll be here if have questions. 🙂
